31 Aug 2018 – The United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen, Martin Griffiths, has announced that he will try to convene talks at the U.N. in Geneva on September 6, 2018 for a resolution of the armed conflicts in Yemen.
In December 2002, the United Nations General Assembly, in Resolution 57/249, declared that 21 May each year should be the World Day for Cultural Diversity, for Dialogue and Development. The Day was created as a response to the destruction of the Buddha statues of Bamiyam in Afghanistan in 2001.
“The darkness of egoism which will have to be destroyed is the egoism of the Nation. The ideal of India is against the intense consciousness of the separateness of one’s own people from others, which inevitably leads to ceaseless conflicts. There my prayer is ‘let India stand for the cooperation of all the people of the world.’”
